It is without a doubt that TOA communities are known for their gorgeous, resort-style Clubhouses loaded with amenities. In fact, it’s one of the main reasons active-adults choose to live in our communities! They are attracted to the social opportunities, the healthy living that the fitness center offers and the variety of clubs and parties that take place throughout the year. Nevertheless, we are always delightfully surprised when our homeowners put their OWN creative twists on getting together.
Case in point: our Richland community in the North Hills of Pittsburgh.
This motivated and gregarious group of homeowners have taken the neighborhood block party to a whole new level. And, who can blame them? Set atop a prominent ridge of wooded, rolling hills with beautiful views to the south, Richland residents are quite literally surrounded by nature creating the perfect backdrop for outdoor fun.
Block Parties aren’t just for the weekend!
Richland party-goers have dubbed their block party “Wine’d Down Wednesday”. Clever! It’s “advertised” as a fun, casual get together with wine, beer, munchies & desserts. The event rotates between the different streets/cul-de-sacs in the neighborhood. June was hosted by Liberty Boulevard & July by Independence Way. The host street/cul-de-sac provides wine, beer, light snacks & desserts & asks everyone attending to bring a wine glass (if they’re drinking wine) & a chair. In June, they also played cornhole & Kubb. It’s an active group!
How it works – the details:
Residents sign up for the event in the Clubhouse, so the host street has an idea of how many people to expect. So far, there have been around 40 each time. That’s a party! Sandwiched in the middle of the week, it’s a great way for new neighbors to learn where everyone lives & get to know people beyond their street – all while enjoying a beautiful summer evening.
